It's hump day and if you also live in Boston, you know it's a particularly miserable one. The sky has been a dark, ominous mess and rivers of rain have spilled from it for the past three days straight. It's the kind of weather that definitely affects your mood. Here are some videos that have kept my spirits up and hopefully will help you get over the hump as well.
The first video comes from Ted Leo who recently wrote a lengthy piece on not making money which spoke of an upcoming theatrical project. It turns out the musical he was talking about was this humorous music video for "Bottled in Cork". The always hilarious Paul F. Tompkins and John Hodgman star. As usual, Ted Leo proves he is the man.
You have no doubt seen the video for Cee-lo's new single "Fuck You" by now. The fact that it took mere days for it to exceed 2 million views is a testament to how amazing the song is. It is as catchy as possible and surely worth re-posting here as well. It's sad to think that it's going to be censored when released for radio. Everyone and their mother already saw this video and has a pretty good idea what he is saying. It's an insult to our collective intelligence to think that they are probably going to dumb down the song by replacing "fuck you" with "forget you". Regardless, we still have this gem for now. The song comes from his forthcoming album The Lady Killer due out on October 4, 2010. An official video is said to be released before then.
Anyone who has been keeping up with this blog knows that this is the year I have become obsessed with Future Islands. This incredible acoustic performance of "Vireo's Eye" details exactly why. Listen to those vocals!

A new documentary is coming out that chronicles the life of Sweden-based singer-songwriter Jose Gonzalez. It looks like it is going to be an interesting and unorthodox film. Take a look at the trailer below.
Look at those Baltimore hipsters... but no really, Future Islands are good stuff. Took me forever and seeing them live 3 or 4 times to actually appreciate them. Just couldn't find the appeal in them prior to that.
